Lead UK Commercial Strategy and Growth

Take ownership of the UK commercial strategy and play a pivotal role in the next phase of growth for a leading manufacturing organisation. This position is designed for an ambitious sales leader who is ready to identify new sources of growth, develop a robust commercial strategy, and build stronger market relationships to convert opportunity into revenue.

This role goes beyond managing an existing team or maintaining established relationships. The successful candidate will be expected to determine where the next stage of growth will originate, craft the strategy to deliver it, and leverage industry knowledge to shape the future commercial direction of the business.

Core Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a UK sales strategy focused on sustainable revenue growth across existing markets and customer accounts.
  • Identify and develop new customers, routes to market, and commercial partnerships to expand the business footprint.
  • Strengthen relationships with key distributors, wholesalers, retailers, and installers to increase the company's presence and profile within the UK market.
  • Create and manage sales forecasts, budgets, and performance targets while monitoring competitor activity and market trends.
  • Use market intelligence and customer insight to influence wider business strategy and identify opportunities for new products and customer segments.
  • Develop a high-performing sales culture focused on accountability, activity, and results.
  • Work closely with technical, operations, product development, marketing, and senior leadership teams to ensure alignment around customer and market opportunities.

Key Account and New Business Development

  • Proactively identify and develop new customer opportunities, including distributors, wholesalers, retailers, OEMs, contractors, and installation businesses.
  • Develop strategic account plans for key customers to increase share of wallet and understand changing requirements.
  • Lead commercial negotiations and framework agreements while providing technical and commercial support throughout the customer journey.
  • Represent the business at industry events, exhibitions, and customer meetings to build a strong and measurable sales pipeline.
  • Build relationships at multiple levels within key accounts to become a trusted commercial partner.

Leadership and Influence

Lead and develop the UK sales function, creating a culture that is commercially focused, customer-led, and accountable for results. You will work closely with Product Development, Technical, Marketing, Operations, Customer Service, Purchasing, Senior Leadership, and European colleagues. The ability to influence across the organisation is essential to ensure that customer and market opportunities are translated into action.

Essential Experience and Skills

This role requires genuine sector experience. Candidates should have built their careers within the chimney, flue, fireplace, stove, wood-burners, or a closely related heating/product sector. You will ideally already understand the UK market, including the relationships between manufacturers, distributors, wholesalers, independent retailers, fireplace specialists, installers, and other routes to market.

  • Strong understanding of the UK chimney, flue, stove, fireplace, or wood-burner market.
  • Existing relationships across independent retailers, distributors, wholesalers, installers, or related channels.
  • A proven track record of delivering sales growth and developing both existing accounts and new business.
  • Strong commercial and negotiation skills, with the ability to understand technical products and communicate their value to customers.
  • A proactive, entrepreneurial approach to business development and the confidence to challenge existing ways of working.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to operate strategically while remaining hands-on commercially.
  • A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel regularly throughout the UK.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary range of £55,000 - £70,000.
  • Company car or car allowance.
  • Annual performance-related bonus.
  • Pension and company benefits.
  • Ongoing training and development opportunities.

This is an opportunity to join a business at an important stage of its development and have a visible impact on its future growth. For the right person, this is a chance to take ownership of a commercial growth agenda, build relationships across a specialist market, and see the direct impact of their work on the success of the business.
