Transforming Tissue into Breakthrough Insights
Step into a role where your histology expertise drives real drug discovery impact. Join a dynamic team in California, US, to support research projects by performing critical histological procedures.
Primary Responsibilities
- Perform end-to-end histology workflows including tissue fixation, grossing, processing, embedding, sectioning, staining, imaging, and slide preparation.
- Work with both FFPE and fresh/frozen tissue samples across a variety of tissue types.
- Prepare tissue, including grossing and embedding, and section tissue using various equipment such as cryostats, microtomes, vibratomes, and sliding-frozen microtomes.
- Execute high-volume automated immunostaining and perform routine histological staining including H&E, nuclear counterstaining, and other special stains.
- Execute and support IHC, IF, and/or ISH assays, including both manual and automated staining workflows.
- Support single- and multiplex immunodetection using chromogenic and/or fluorescence-based methods.
- Operate and perform routine maintenance on histology laboratory equipment.
Skills & Requirements
- BS or MS in Biology, Biomedical Sciences, Histology, Pathology, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, or a related scientific discipline.
- Approximately 3+ years of relevant histology experience in biotechnology, pharmaceutical, CRO, academic research, or a related laboratory environment.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience with FFPE and fresh-frozen tissue workflows.
- Strong experience with tissue processing, embedding, microtomy and/or cryosectioning, and histological staining.
- Experience performing H&E and immunohistochemical staining.
- Experience using microscopy to assess tissue morphology and staining quality.
- Experience in performing, optimizing, and implementing qualitative and quantitative tissue-based methodologies, ranging from tissue handling and processing, sectioning with microtome or cryostat, and histochemical staining.
- Experience developing, optimizing, or troubleshooting IHC, IF, ISH, or other tissue-based assays.
- Experience with automated immunostaining platforms such as Leica Bond RX, Biocare IntelliPATH, or comparable systems.
- ASCP certification (HT or HTL) is desirable.
