Join a Dynamic Team in Pharmaceutical Patent Management

Are you ready to play a pivotal role in managing high-value European patent portfolios within the pharmaceutical sector? A unique opportunity awaits at Proclinical, where you will provide specialized support for European patent processes.

Role Overview

This position offers the chance to manage the full lifecycle of European patents, ensuring compliance with procedural requirements and internal policies over a 12-month engagement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and docket incoming European correspondence, accurately recording deadlines and required actions in the Anaqua system.
  • Monitor EPO and internal deadlines during the European patent lifecycle, including prosecution, grant, opposition, and validation.
  • Collaborate with internal patent attorneys and external European law firms to facilitate filings and related actions.
  • Prepare and file documents via EPO Online Filing 2.0 and MyEPO, and support oppositions and EPO proceedings with procedural documentation.
  • Assist with tracking and managing Supplementary Protection Certificates (SPC) and Patent Term Extensions (PTE), as applicable.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Experience in a European patent paralegal or an equivalent intellectual property (IP) support role.
  • Familiarity with European Patent Office (EPO) procedural rules as outlined in the European Patent Convention (EPC).
  • Knowledge of global patent landscapes, including the United States, PCT, and national phase filings.
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry; understanding the SPC-PTE process is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in IP docketing systems, with experience in Anaqua considered a plus.
  • Skilled in using MyEPO and EPO Online Filing 2.0.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, reading comprehension, and proofreading skills.
  • Able to manage large IP portfolios in a fast-paced environment, prioritize competing deadlines, and effectively escalate risks.
