Pharma CAPEX Project Manager- Lab/Utilities

Join a specialist biotherapeutics manufacturer with over a century of experience in treating various diseases worldwide. This organization is committed to patients with coagulation disorders, immunological diseases, enzyme deficiency diseases, and other rare diseases. Located in Bern, Switzerland, this role is offered on a 12-month contract with the possibility of extension, including two days per week of home-office work.

Main Responsibilities

• Responsible for project activities required to scope, develop, procure, construct, and qualify new equipment and facilities to meet facility production throughput demand.
• Lead multi-disciplinary teams through project life cycle activities to deliver capacity expansion capabilities that meet global and local strategic requirements.
• Develop and maintain integrated project plans while monitoring project activities for adherence to milestone timelines, deliverables, and budget against the approved plan.
• Maintain oversight of project risks and develop risk mitigation strategies.
• Ensure that initiatives are aligned with business objectives and strategic philosophy.
• Provide cGMP compliant processes and facilities suitable for FDA and global regulatory approval.
• Implement EHS by design principles within the project.
• Generate regular project reports, including financial updates, project schedules, risks, and a summary of current activities, for site Senior Management and Global Steering Committees.
• Oversee the completion of project lifecycle activities through performance qualification.
• Influence teams to work collaboratively, remain customer-focused, and deliver superior performance through personal leadership abilities, mentoring, and effective communication.

Qualifications and Experience

• Relevant working/residency permit or Swiss/EU-Citizenship required.
• Successful studies in Engineering, Business Administration, or Life Sciences (MS/MBA/BS/BA or equivalent).
• Five years of experience in managing capital projects in the pharmaceutical industry.
• Ideally, experience with laboratory projects.
• Functional knowledge of cGMPs and manufacturing operations in FDA regulated facilities.
• Excellent understanding of project management principles and project lifecycle phases.
• Ability to handle many tasks simultaneously and integrate project planning efforts across functions.
• Ability to understand “the big picture” and approach problem-solving in a proactive team manner.
• Mandatory proficiency in German and English.
