Position Overview
Join a dynamic and innovative research team working on the n2EDM experiment, which aims to investigate the neutron electric dipole moment, potentially revealing insights into beyond-Standard-Model physics. As part of this project, you will engage in various aspects of the experiment, contributing to both the running and further development of the mercury magnetometer system, alongside participating in the first data collection and analysis for n2EDM.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the operation, maintenance, and development of the mercury magnetometer system.
- Contribute to the initial data collection for the n2EDM experiment.
- Participate in the analysis processes of the n2EDM data.
- Provide supervision for students across various levels of study.
Candidate Profile
We are seeking a talented and motivated individual who is passionate about fundamental physics and is eager to contribute to a competitive research environment.
- PhD degree in physics is required.
- Experience in experimental fundamental physics, neutron physics, or relevant fields is advantageous.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Flexible and capable of multitasking in a dynamic setting.
- Hands-on experience with experimental setups, data analysis, and potentially lasers and optics.
- Proficiency in programming is required; experience with electronic and mechanical hardware design is a plus.
- Fluency in English (spoken and written) is mandatory; excellent documentation skills are essential.
- Knowledge of German or a willingness to learn is advantageous.
