Senior Technical Project Manager – Azure Cloud Transformation (m/w/d)

Location and Engagement Details

Based in Zurich, Switzerland, this role is a temporary engagement at 100% capacity. The start date is immediate or no later than 02.01.2027, with an initial duration of six months and the possibility of extension.

Your Challenge

For a client undergoing a strategic cloud transformation, we are seeking an experienced Senior Technical Project Manager (m/f/d) with strong Microsoft Azure expertise. In this key role, you will take operational responsibility for managing an enterprise-wide Azure Cloud Transformation. You will work closely with the Program Manager, Cloud Engineers, Solution Architects, and internal and external stakeholders to ensure a structured, secure, and sustainable implementation.

Your Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate the Azure Cloud Transformation, including project planning, milestones, risks, and dependencies.
• Manage and coordinate internal Cloud Engineers, technical specialists, and external implementation partners.
• Collaborate closely with Solution Architecture, Security, Business Applications, and Workplace teams.
• Drive the implementation and continuous improvement of Azure Cloud Governance, Landing Zones, Identity & Access Management, and Security & Compliance.
• Promote standardization and automation through Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and Terraform.
• Coordinate the transformation of existing network architectures into scalable, secure Azure and hybrid cloud environments.
• Ensure effective cloud cost management (FinOps), monitoring, and operational readiness.
• Support the development and implementation of a sustainable Cloud Operating Model.
• Provide regular progress reports to the Program Manager while proactively managing risks, issues, and escalations.

Your Profile

• Several years of experience in technical project management within cloud transformation programs, ideally in enterprise environments.
• Proven experience with Microsoft Azure, cloud migrations, or cloud modernization initiatives.
• Strong understanding of Azure Architecture, Landing Zones, Cloud Governance, Security, and Cloud Networking.
• Good knowledge of Terraform, Infrastructure as Code, and cloud automation.
• Experience leading and coordinating Cloud Engineers, technical specialists, and external IT service providers.
• Strong ability to manage technical and organizational dependencies within complex IT transformation programs.
• Structured, proactive, and results-oriented working style with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Fluent English; German is considered an advantage.

Nice to Have

• Microsoft Azure certifications, PMP, PRINCE2, or IPMA qualifications.
• Experience with Hybrid Cloud, FinOps, and DevOps practices.
