Role Overview

The role encompasses responsibilities for the overall enrichment, entertainment, and content experience for guests onboard Viking Ocean and Expedition. This position necessitates a dynamic and creative individual capable of leading a diverse team to curate educational and engaging content that enriches our guests' journeys. The individual will report directly to the Vice President of Hotel Operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Enrichment Management: Organize and oversee a comprehensive lecture program encompassing various topics relevant to destinations, guest interests, and scientific insights.
  • Destination Insight: Ensure that all programs are aligned with the regions of sailing to maximize local exposure and content relevance.
  • Onboard Entertainment Management: Maintain quality standards across all onboard shows and ensure they are consistent with the Viking brand.
  • Production Management: Organize a tailored entertainment program suited to the Viking guest demographic and destinations, overseeing technical aspects as needed.
  • Onboard Content Management: Supervise the creation and dissemination of all onboard content, including newsletters and informational brochures.
  • TV Content Curation: Curate informative and entertaining television content appropriate for guests, managing scheduling and availability across the fleet.
  • Copywriting: Ensure that all guest information is aligned with marketing expectations and is kept up to date.
  • Talent Sourcing & Management: Lead the recruitment and approval process for talent in enrichment and entertainment, fostering talent development onboard.
  • Training and Development: Identify and train talents within the team through mentoring and coaching to ensure smooth transitions and growth.
  • Functionality and Maintenance: Ensure that all equipment and programs are deliverable and maintained proactively.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Conduct budgeting and forecasting in compliance with company expectations.

Key Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience as an enrichment/entertainment manager in hospitality, preferably within the cruise industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of stage production, technical supervision, and development.
  • Proven experience as a Cruise Director on ocean vessels in diverse geographical locations.
  • Ability to manage a varied population of lecturers and maintain a global network in enrichment.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills, capable of managing teams both shoreside and onboard.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, native-level proficiency in English required.
  • Solid understanding of the American hospitality market with relevant industry experience.
  • A passion for travel, culture, education, and science.
  • A collaborative approach to working with diverse teams and departments.
