At the heart of transformative productivity technology, our Substrate Intelligence Platform (DSX) team is dedicated to creating secure, personalized, and scalable experiences across Microsoft 365. This includes widely used applications such as Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote. With a focus on innovating infrastructures for tenant-isolated fine-tuning, we empower our customers to personalize Copilot agents using their own data safely—leveraging cutting-edge models from OpenAI and open-source communities.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect and design large-scale, distributed services to support tenant-isolated fine-tuning and evaluation workflows.
• Drive technical ownership across critical platform areas, from data ingestion and training orchestration to deployment and monitoring.
• Establish secure data movement patterns that comply with Microsoft’s security, privacy, and governance standards.
• Shape the long-term technical vision and roadmap for the fine-tuning platform, considering scalability and reliability.
• Lead cross-team technical reviews and influence designs across various organizations.
• Create frameworks that enhance operational excellence, observability, and developer experience.
• Mentor engineers, emphasizing design quality, code health, and engineering rigor.
• Collaborate with engineering managers and product leaders to align technical strategies with business goals.
• Proactively address systemic production issues with sustainable solutions.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience, with hands-on coding experience in languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
• Experience in designing and operating large-scale distributed systems in production.
• Demonstrated ability to lead technical decisions across multiple teams or services.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's Degree in Computer Science or a related field with extensive technical engineering experience, or a Bachelor's Degree with considerable experience in coding languages noted above.
• Experience with building infrastructure services in cloud environments, preferably Azure.
• Understanding of multi-tenant architectures, security boundaries, and privacy-compliant system design.
• Hands-on experience with Azure Machine Learning, Kubernetes, GPU workloads, or large-scale data pipelines.
• A track record of simplifying architecture and improving reliability in cost-efficient ways.
• Ability to navigate ambiguity, influence across teams, and build trust.
