Overview

In the realm of aerospace, the importance of engineering cannot be overstated, particularly in ensuring the reliability of sophisticated spacecraft. Our client is seeking an exceptional professional to architect fault management systems that safeguard these critical assets in orbit.

Role Responsibilities

As the Autonomy Responsible Engineering Authority, you will take ownership of the fault detection, isolation, and response architecture across various programs and proposals. Your daily tasks will include:

  • Defining satellite states, modes, and transitions.
  • Designing and validating onboard fault responses.
  • Leading the requirements decomposition process.
  • Supporting on-console operations during on-orbit missions.

This position requires collaboration across disciplines, often leading a multidisciplinary team, and has significant influence over the CONOPS and architecture trade studies, progressing from early program phases to validation and testing.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you should possess:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of satellite design and/or operations experience.
  • Hands-on experience in designing, developing, and verifying spacecraft FDIR.
  • Experience in developing and verifying spacecraft autonomy software or configuration.
  • Familiarity with one or more satellite subsystems and/or system-level analysis.
  • Familiarity with satellite testing and/or on-orbit mission operations.
  • US Person status, with US citizenship required for clearance eligibility.

Preferred Experience

Candidates with the following attributes will stand out:

  • 9 or more years of satellite design and/or operations experience, specifically in mission or systems engineering.
  • Experience in designing mission CONOPS and deriving fault and autonomy requirements.
  • Technical leadership that includes setting program direction, establishing processes, and guiding engineering standards.
  • An active TS/SCI clearance.
  • A background in GNC, systems engineering, or mission operations.

Joining this high-caliber team will position you at the forefront of satellite engineering, contributing to the critical systems that ensure successful missions in space.
