Opportunity Overview
The intelligence value of a satellite constellation relies heavily on the analysis and modeling performed by skilled engineers. Engaging in this role, you will influence whether a mission successfully meets critical needs. Our client is recognized for developing leading national security space systems, and they are seeking a highly experienced professional to oversee all modeling, simulation, and analysis tasks within a program.
Key Responsibilities
In this position, you will be responsible for the entire modeling and simulation process for a specific program or study. Your duties will include:
- Building large constellation simulations to evaluate mission effectiveness.
- Developing EO/IR image processing algorithm chains from photon detection to actionable outputs.
- Creating payload performance models and innovating algorithms for sensing and tracking systems.
- Leading the development of Concepts of Operations (CONOPS) and Design Reference Missions.
- Collaborating with software and firmware teams to construct simulation deployment platforms, including hardware and software in loop environments.
- Managing program activities to guarantee timely delivery of work products and ensuring that proposed mission solutions meet customer requirements.
Qualifications Required
- Bachelor’s degree with 9 or more years of relevant experience in aerospace systems design, analysis, and/or operations.
- Expertise in modeling and simulating complex satellite systems with tools such as Matlab/Simulink, Python, or C++.
- Experience with EO/IR optical systems and image processing algorithms.
- Sound knowledge of orbital mechanics and kinematic state estimation.
- US Person status and eligibility for a Top Secret clearance following commencement.
Preferred Attributes
- 14 or more years of experience in satellite design and/or operations.
- Familiarity with government-furnished image models such as ASSET, PRA Toolkit, or AFSIM.
- Proficiency in hardware development languages like VHDL, Verilog, or Vitis Model Composer.
- Experience with satellite space-to-space communication networks.
- Demonstrated technical leadership, including requirements verification and validation, Responsible Engineering Authority (REA) experience, and cost account management.
- Active TS/SCI clearance.
