Shape the Future of Diabetes Technology
Lead the development of next-generation glucose sensing technologies in a high-impact role focused on advancing electrochemical biosensors, wearable medical devices, biomaterials, and CGM sensor platforms from early research through to commercial manufacture. Working across R&D, clinical, regulatory, algorithms, and manufacturing teams, you will play a key role in delivering innovative diabetes technologies that improve patient outcomes worldwide.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development of CGM sensors, including enzyme immobilisation, anti-biofouling membranes, electrode surface modification, electrospinning, and advanced biomaterials.
- Drive innovation in electrochemical biosensors, continuous biosensing, flexible electronics, and non-enzymatic glucose monitoring technologies.
- Solve complex technical challenges including signal drift, sensor stability, biofouling, ISF diffusion, and wireless connectivity performance.
- Design and execute validation studies, including in vitro testing, in vivo studies, accelerated ageing, and sensor performance evaluations.
- Support product development from proof-of-concept through verification, validation, scale-up, and commercial manufacturing.
- Collaborate with data science and algorithm teams to improve calibration models, signal processing, and glucose prediction accuracy.
- Contribute to regulatory documentation and development activities supporting FDA, CE Mark, and other global submissions.
Key Skills and Requirements
- PhD in Electrochemistry, Biomedical Engineering, Analytical Chemistry, Biomaterials, or another related discipline.
- Proven years of experience in CGM, continuous biosensing, wearable sensors, implantable devices, or electrochemical biosensor development.
- Strong expertise in electrochemistry, biosensor design, electrode modification, and biomaterials.
- Demonstrated experience translating innovative sensor technologies into commercial products.
- Hands-on experience with tools such as SEM, FTIR, EIS, XPS, Autolab, CHI, Python, and MATLAB.
- Experience with design controls, verification, validation, and medical device product development.
- Expertise in at least one of the following:
- Enzyme immobilisation
- Microfluidics
- Flexible electronics
- Electrochemical glucose sensing
- Sensor materials and coatings
Preferred Experience
- Commercial CGM product development experience.
- FDA, CE, or NMPA regulatory submission experience.
- Publications in leading journals such as Advanced Materials, ACS Sensors, or Biosensors and Bioelectronics.
- Patent generation and technology innovation.
- Experience within closed-loop insulin delivery systems, digital health, connected devices, or artificial pancreas technologies.
